Richie's Plumbing offers a number of services including backflow testing, gas line and leak repair, new fixture installation, water leak repair, tankless water heaters, and much more. Contact us to discuss any plumbing concern or your next project.

BackFlow Testing

Louisiana law requires all backflow assemblies to be tested at the time of installation and yearly thereafter. If you have an irrigation system or own a business that is required to have a backflow assembly it is up to the home/business owner to have a yearly inspection of your backflow device. We can file all of the paper work required by the city or parish. We can also provide you with a report for your records. If your backflow assembly is outside you typically don’t need to be home for us to perform the inspection.

Gas Line and Leak Repair

We understand that a gas leak is a serious situation and we have plumbers certified in gas line repair or replacement available 24-hours a day. If your gas has been turned off by the gas company, due to a leak or if you have had the service off for at least six months, you will be required to have an inspection with the city or parish code enforcement. Remember, that gas lines and gas appliances will have to be brought up to today's codes. Your meter will only be released back to you after your gas system has passed an inspection with the city or parish. In most cases the process can take 2-3 days.

New Fixture Installation

We can replace faucets, lavatories, tubs, toilets, showers, garbage disposals, dishwashers, and stoves. If it's plumbing related, we usually can replace it. Whether you would like to purchase your own fixtures or appliances yourself, or have us supply them, we can get it done.

Water Leak Repair

If the faucets, drains, or water lines are leaking on your property, we have reliable plumbers 24 hours a day who can get on site and fix it quickly. A timely repair means less money lost in increased water bills and water damage to your commercial property. We will do our best to repair your leak with minimal down time.

We can also handle any plumbing or gas needs you may have for any size addition.

Tankless Water Heaters

A Rinnai tankless water heater only heats water when you need it. So you get an endless source of hot water, while also saving money on energy costs by not heating and reheating the same tank of water. When opening a hot water tap, or starting the dishwasher, the Rinnai tankless water heater recognizes the need for hot water and starts the heating process. The temperature of the incoming water is used to calculate how much heat the burners must produce to deliver water at the desired temperature. When the demand for hot water ceases the unit shuts down and uses no energy, waiting until more hot water is needed. The end result -- hot water that is not limited to what’s available in your tank. You always have clean, hot water when you want it for as long as you need it!

Toilet Repair

Some toilet repairs can easily be handled by yourself. The most common repairs on a toilet are usually the ball cock(valve) or the flapper. The only tools needed to do those repairs would be a razor knife and a channel lock. If the tank or bowl need to be repaired or replaced most of the time the bolts need to be cut off and you would need a professional to handle those repairs for you. Remember most plumbing fixtures are made out of china and can crack easily. Be careful when working around plumbing fixtures. If it cracks or shatters you will probably need to make a trip to the emergency room.

Under Slab Repairs

Water and sewer line leaks under a foundation can be a homeowner’s worst nightmare. Repairing the leak itself is expensive and troublesome. We use hydro tunneling to get to the problem, in which the dirt is washed out. In most cases it would be a 4' wide x depth x length tunnel this would depend on the plumbing layout. It would be hauled away and the repairs would be made. After the repair is made sand would be blown back into the tunnel to seal it up. We find this method eliminates the piles of dirt and debris, making the job site cleaner. All repairs made under the slab would be hung back with all stainless steel material and if done properly would last forever. There is no cost difference in hydro tunneling versus digging by hand. In most cases under slab repairs are covered by your homeowner’s insurance company, if the damages are on the property. In most cases insurance does not cover the complete cost of the job. It seems that it only covers the tunneling and sand replacement, minus your deductible. It is always best to check your policy before calling your agent and make sure you know what your policy covers. We offer a free video inspection worth $250.00 with every tunneling job.

Water Heater Repairs and Replacements

We service any type of water heater. It can be gas or electric, from two gallons to two hundred gallons. Our company keeps residential heaters in stock. If it is a commercial heater you are looking for, we can have those delivered, even after hours. There is no reason you should ever have to be without hot water.

Water Jet Drain Cleaning

High-pressure water jetting is an effective way to clean out sewer and drain lines that are packed with grease or waste. Sometimes a cable with blades will not unstop a drain line because the line is packed solid; therefore, the cable and blades cannot penetrate through it. When this happens a water jet would have to be used to break up the waste in the line and get the line flowing again. We find that most of the time the water jet has to be used on a job where there is a lot of grease being put into the sewer system, or if the line itself is damaged. Subsurface drain lines that catch rain water tend to have leaves and dirt built up in them, the water jet is also an effective way of cleaning out these lines. The water jet can be used on 3" lines and larger.
